Mrs. Miller's Second Grade Class Opens A Tate Woods Little Free Library
Tate Woods has a long-standing tradition of inspiring students to love reading and learning and sharing that love with the Lisle community and beyond internationally. With this in mind, Mrs. Miller’s second grade class decided to put that tradition in action by creating a Little Free Library right at Tate Woods.
This past spring, Mrs. Miller’s class worked to secure donations, purchase materials, build and decorate the Little Free Library box. On May 24, 2017, the class hosted a Grand Opening presentation and celebration to launch the Tate Woods’ Little Free Library. The students were thrilled to share their love of reading with the community.
Mrs. Miller and her students would like to invite you to share in the Tate Woods tradition of inspiring a love of reading and join the new tradition of the Tate Woods Little Free Library!
Here’s how it works:
What is a Little Free Library?
Beginning in 2009, Todd XXX placed a Little Free Library in his front yard to honor his mother with the idea, “Take a book. Return a book.” Today, the Little Free Library has more than 50,000 locations in all 50 states and 70 countries across the world! The goal is to provide access to books for all people in a community and offer the opportunity for children and community members to continue to connect with literacy and each other.
Where is the Tate Woods Little Free Library?
The Tate Woods Little Free Library is located right in front of the school!
Who can use the Tate Woods Little Free Library?
Anyone! We hope everyone will take advantage of this great opportunity to share and enjoy books. If you take a book, you do not need to return that exact book, but please add one or two to share with the neighborhood, too! Our book exchange is on the honor system, so our library will stay full of quality books when everyone contributes.
When can I visit the Tate Woods Little Free Library?
Any time! Come on over and share in the love of reading!
How can I find Little Free Libraries?
The Little Free Library (LFL) organization maintains a world map on their website www.littlefreelibrary.org. The Tate Woods LFL can be found at LFL #55640 the World Map!
